CEO & Managing Partner
Brian Mitchell is the Founder and Managing Partner of GM Ryan. Brian is a well-known figure within the technology and investor communities, having personally executed 250+ executive searches for leading Internet and software companies for over a decade. Prior to entering Executive Search as an entrepreneur in 2005, Brian led all commercial revenue for RCN, an $800M publicly traded MSO. Previous experience included a rapid rise up the sales and GM ranks in the telecom space at MCI and Qwest. Brian managed $100M+ P&L’s; scaled organizations; opened new markets, hired and managed 100’s of diverse personnel; devised product and go-to-market strategies; developed incentive and benefit plans; turned around underperforming teams and business units; participated and led M&A due diligence and post-event integrations. These many lessons learned as an operational leader cannot be replicated in any other environment and provide an invaluable edge for servicing GM Ryan clients.
Don Kennedy is a Managing Partner of GM Ryan. Prior to GM Ryan, Don spent 17 years as a senior leader in the digital technology sector. As the head of global revenue for Advertising.com, he played a major role in growing the company from its start up roots to its $495MM sale to Aol in 2004, and in the years that followed led the transformation of Aol’s business in the digital marketing world. As President of Aol’s Advertiser Platforms business, Don led a $1B business unit that provided technology solutions to the world’s biggest companies and this organization was the driving factor behind Aol’s $4.4B sale to Verizon in 2015. With a proven track record in building, developing, and leading scaled organizations, Don has been in the seat to make critical hiring decisions while being accountable to investors, Boards, and shareholders in both a private and public company setting. He knows what it takes to be successful, and this operational experience combined with a passion for building high performing teams provides GM Ryan’s clients with a truly differentiated experience.
Gena joined GM Ryan in 2006 and represents high profile clients in digital media and cloud services sectors. Gena has placed industry executives around the country and western Europe, and previously led both the research and candidate development teams for GM Ryan for several years. Gena brings an optimal combination of experience to GM Ryan – having been wildly successful in complex solutions sales with MCI; subsequently launching, building, and selling a venture backed ecommerce business (PopLollies); and leading business development efforts for Ajilon, one of the largest recruitment firms in the world. This blend of technical, entrepreneurial, and recruitment expertise enables Gena to perform at the highest levels for GM Ryan clients. Gena is the mother of three beautiful daughters and is actively involved with multiple charity organizations including serving as Founder of devenio, inc. Gena holds a BA from University of Maryland where she played field hockey.
Vice President of Operations
Lisa has led GM Ryan’s research and operations team since 2013. With her high caliber of tech savvy and organizational skills, Lisa has been a significant contributor to GM Ryan’s overall efficiency and success. She has designed and implemented core processes and tools that are now used as a benchmark for differentiation with GM Ryan’s top clients. Lisa is the glue behind the scenes at GM Ryan. Lisa previously ran sales, marketing and business administration functions for Enterprise, while earning several promotions and increased responsibilities based on stellar performance. Lisa earned her bachelor’s degree from Virginia Tech and volunteers with a local nonprofit group in her spare time.
Since 2005 Camilla has been executing top end searches across the digital technology space in Europe, both in the UK and mainland. Well-known for her client dedication, Camilla’s work has included working with VC’s on various start-up executive projects; consulting with US businesses to help them gain a foothold in the European market and subsequently building the initial senior team; and opening offices for both F1000 and high growth businesses across all the main European territories. Camilla has successfully represented hundreds of strategic searches for her clients. Camilla is also a qualified psychotherapist, uniquely trained with techniques for advanced interviewing, matching personalities, and, understanding people’s motivations. Camilla is based in London, and a common fixture at many industry events and conferences.
